Iraq – Women journalists and activists are the most targeted victims of political rivalries

Assassinations and abductions against women journalist and activists have significantly increased in a number of Iraqi cities due to the political strives and conflicts between different sects in the country. Experts and observers pointed out during a specialized seminar that such actions that targeted women activists in particular reflect the fragility of the Iraqi security system, especially since the offenders of most of the recent assassinations are still unknown to the security services. They also demanded developing new laws and rules and activating the ones related to prosecuting the perpetrators of such crimes and holding them accountable.
