The tourism sector has rebounded in the Kurdistan region after witnessing a decline in the past three years due to the financial crisis faced by the region as well as the war against ISIS. The Minister of Municipalities and Tourism in the Region, Norouz Mawloud, said during a press conference held in Erbil after a meeting with the Tourism Authority In Kurdistan to discuss the development of the tourism sector in the region, that 349 thousand tourists arrived in the Kurdistan region during Eid al-Adha holiday and that 84% of them came from central and southern Iraq, which is a 19% increase compared to previous holidays in 2017. Government agencies seek to benefit from these revenues in providing services to the tourist areas and resorts in the cities of Kurdistan.
