Iraq – The forests of Mosul are restored by hosting the reading festival
Mosul – Iraq 03/09/2018
The city of Mosul is witnessing the revival of its cultural manifestations after ISIS organization occupation for 3 years. The most prominent cultural activities in the city’s forests occured within the Movement for the Revival of Culture is the “I am Iraqi … I read” festival organized by a group of organizations and charities and includes the distribution of books free of charge especially children and young people. Organizers stressed that the aim of the festival is to get the citizens out of the trauma they suffered during ISIS organization control and participants called on the Iraqi government and the international community to rebuild Mosul so that full life could return to it and the rest of its displaced population would return to their homes. It is worth mentioning that the forest area was used by ISIS organization during their control on the city of Mosul to train children or so-called Caliphate lions and after the liberation of the city, the government agencies were able to rehabilitate the forest area and return it to life again.
