Iraq – Conflicting views regarding the Iranian role in fueling the protests in Iraq

Analysts stated their conflicting views on the role of Iran in fueling popular protests and the deteriorating security situation in Iraq, which broke out in the southern provinces and reached the Middle Euphrates region where Iranian influence is present and is strong. Security analysts believe that Iran does not have a major motive because of the size of the geographical border between the two countries, while others believe that foreign agendas are behind the storming of demonstrators to one of the oil companies in Basra, basing their views on the sanctions issued by the United States against Iran on the issue of oil and export .
