Iraq – World Anti-Narcotics Day in Alsalam Prison in Sulaymaniyah

The World Anti-Narcotics Day was celebrated in Alsalam prison in Sulaymaniyah city in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, where there are a number of drug addicts and drug dealers. The director of drug control in the security of Sulaymaniyah, Jalal Amin Bek stated that in the first half of this year, 113 drug abusers and drug traffickers were arrested, including 10 women, Adding that the rate of drug abuse is rising due to the old anti-drug law of 1965, which includes many clauses including that the addicts must receive treatment in private hospitals, while there are no special centers for the treatment of addicts in the region, in addition to their needs for integrated medical supplies and medicines so that they can re-integrate into society.
