Qaladiza – little Zab River – Sulaymaniyah Governorate – Iraq 9/6/2018

The water level in the little Zab River in Qaladiza district, Sulaymaniyah, of the Kurdistan region dropped to 100 cm after Iran cut a large section of the river water to supply water to the Kolsa dam in the Iranian city of Sardasht, which directly affects 85,000 people in the district and thousands of agricultural projects and 400 fish ponds, and it will affect its capacity to generate about 100 megawatts of electricity for the region. As a result, stakeholders called people for rationalizing their water consumption amid appeals to the government to solve the problem to prevent water scarcity.
