“The Iraqi Archery Federation is holding the championship from May 6th to May 12th with the participation of more than 16 Asian teams. This championship is of great significance because it is the Asian Archery Federation’s first championship to be held in Iraq. Hosting this championship relays a message to the international and regional world of sport that Iraq is safe and capable of organizing an event of such magnitude.”

Soundbite (Adel Hammadi – In charge of the UAE team):

“We thank the Iraqi Archery Federation and Iraq for organizing this event. There is contrast in the level of experience among participants, some are beginners while others are experienced. The UAE teams is new to archery and this is the first time participating in a continental championship for most of the players. The results are satisfactory but we aspire to become better. The team gained great experience from competing with strong teams. We look forward to participating in more championships.”

Soundbite (Maha AL-Hussein – Player for UAE team):

“This is our first championship outside of the UAE. Competing with other countries has been a great experience. We aspire to improve further.”

Soundbite (Mujahed Adam – Player for Sudan team):

“I am excited to be participating in this championship. The Arab and Asian teams are of contrasting levels. Asian teams are much more experienced as they have been competing in archery for a long time unlike Arab countries. It is a great pleasure for Arab countries to be participants in an Asian championship. There are 5 or 6 Arab teams participating, which is a great opportunity for them to improve and raise their level of experience.”
