Iraq – Protests in Tahrir Square to mark the second anniversary of the October Revolution

85

People have gathered in Tahrir Square in Baghdad, on Friday, to mark the second anniversary of the October Revolution. The protestors called on the disclosure of the identity of the protestors’ killers, the release of the kidnapped and detainees who had been arrested for nearly a year by authorities and security forces, and the treatment of the injured who were severely beaten, which led to critical issues in their health. People’s views varied about participating in or boycotting the elections. Some urged participation in the election of newly qualified candidates who are not the current parliamentarians, while others emphasized boycotting the elections.
