Iraq – Walnut of Hawraman revives nuts markets in Kurdistan

Farmers in Iraqi Kurdistan started harvesting their walnut crop with the advent of autumn, especially in the Hawraman areas, Halabja governorate; they pick walnuts in the early morning using traditional methods, dry them, and then prepare to sell them. The walnut of Hawraman is one of the finest types in the region and the world, it competes with the foreign product because of its unique taste, is rich in minerals and vitamins, and is sold in the markets according to their quality from 6-8 dollars per kg.
