Iraq- Leaders Arrive in Baghdad to Attend Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership
Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership kicked off today with the participation of Jordan’s King Abdullah, France’s President Emmanuel Macron, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, the Prime Ministers of Emirates and Kuwait along with other Foreign Ministers. By hosting this conference, Iraq aims at boosting its political role in the region. Participating leaders reiterated their support to Iraq especially in regard to its role in combating terrorism. Furthermore, the conference will address security, political and economic issues along with the unfolding events in Afghanistan. Moreover, they will hold talks on ISIS looming threat especially after it issued a statement claiming responsibility for the Kabul airport blast, despite its defeat in Iraq in 2017 and in Syria in 2018
