After Taliban swiftly took over Afghanistan, the Iraqi street expressed its consternation over possible repercussions that would affect Iraq, especially after the US and Afghani troops withdrew. Former MP Hamid Al-Mutlaq made it clear that the unfolding events in Afghanistan aren’t random but rather are preplanned. Activists illustrated that their fears were stirred after ISIS drew strength from Taliban’s recent operations. Moreover, activists fear ISIS would infiltrate Iraqi territories which would affect Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen.
