The spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Ahmed Musa, stated that armed groups in different areas of Iraq are targeting electric power transmission towers systematically. The number of targeted towers exceeded more than seventy, resulting in cutting off the electricity transmission lines connecting Iraqi governorates. Musa added that the Iranian side had cut off Iraq’s energy supply lines more than two months ago, and recently worked to reduce the supply of gas to power plants by about half, leading to the loss of nearly two thousand five hundred megawatts from the national network and negatively affected the hours of processing, while the Ministry of Electricity is collaborating with the Ministry of Oil to make up for the volume of gas lost from the generating units.
