Iraq – Reactions over the announcement of political forces to boycott the upcoming elections

511

Opinions and positions of former Iraqi political and parliamentary figures varied over the announcement of Sunni forces such as the National Dialogue Front led by Saleh al-Mutlaq, and liberalism represented by the Iraqi platform led by Iyad Allawi, not to participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, Some stated that boycotting the elections is not feasible to change the reality and will take place on time, while others believe that these forces, including the Shiites as well, that invoke the weak security environment for holding the elections and their integrity after losing their popular bases and being unable to win parliamentary seats as they were previously. It is noteworthy that the Sadrist movement and the Communist Party had preceded these forces by refusing to run in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
