The Iraqi street reacted differently to the US Senate’s intention to vote next week on a bill that would revoke the mandate for the US-led war on Iraq issued in 2002, after obtaining support from the White House. For his part, the independent politician, Saad Al-Muttalibi, ruled out any negative consequences from the withdrawal of US forces from the country and the war against terrorism, as they are present by an international decision. Al-Muttalibi emphasized that the decision is limited to the internal American political issue and the ongoing conflict between the Republican and Democratic parties, while other analysts believe that repealing the law is a tool for putting pressure on the Iraqi government and has negative repercussions on the political and security files in the future.
