The performance of the Iraqi parliament during its current legislative period has been scathingly criticized, while independent politicians, activists, and citizens described it as a catastrophic failure for many reasons, most notably the failure to pass important draft laws that contribute to the development of state institutions and address citizens’ concerns, as well as the absence of the supervisory council’s role by opening large corruption files and holding Interrogation sessions for ministers and officials accused of suspicious issues, according to experts in Iraqi political matters, this aspect is subject to the moods and whims of political and parliamentary powers.
