Iraq: The Iraqi Minister of Water Resources: Iran Cuts off Water Flow that Feeds into Iraq

During his visit to Darbandikhan Dam, the Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rasheed Al-Hamdani confirmed that Iran has cut off the water flow that feeds into Iraq, adding that Turkey isn’t to be blamed. Water flow that supply Darbandikhan Dam was totally cut off while it receded by a rate of 70% in Dukan Dam inducing a drought in Diyala Governorate and Hemrin Dam. Al-Hamdani illustrated that an Iraqi delegation is visiting Iran to hold talks on the water dilemma and to push for implementing the international water law for the riparian states
