Iraq – Farmers: Iran-aligned parties target local watermelon

Farmers in the Wasit governorate urged the Iraqi government, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture, to shut the borders with Iran, and to ban the entry of watermelon imported from there, which negatively and directly affected the Iraqi local product. Farmers accused Iran-aligned parties, controlling the borders, of passing Iranian watermelon during the time of harvesting the local product, as if the aim is to destroy the Iraqi farmer and hit national products.
