Iraq: Shihab is a Deaf Girl who challenges her Disability by Drawing.
Shihab Mohsen is a 29-year-old fine artist, who was born deaf in Wasit Governorate. Her paintings reflected her inner feelings and emotions as she drew, with the brush, her ambitions and dreams on papers and glass. Her father illustrated that she wasn’t introduced to any workshop training and she didn’t attend school given her disability. Being denied from attending the school, she practised a lot, along with her mother’s assistance, who has a long experience in such a field. She found that the best way to communicate with others was through painting. She mastered the art and excelled in at least 500 paintings which portrayed her reality, proving that her disability wasn’t ever an obstacle
