Iraq- Iranian Encroachment Reaches the Fish Wealth

The Iraqi fish wealth, one of the most vital sectors, is affected by the Iranian leverage. Fish stores’ owners in Erbil – Iraqi Kurdistan are complaining that markets are flooding with Iranian frozen fish which is of low quality, in addition to the high cost of the Iranian fish compared to the domestic ones. Analysts referred to the low water level in the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers due to dams built in Turkey and Iran. They added that Iran intends to build a dam, especially after US economic sanctions.
