Jordan: Arab Foreign Ministers Meet their European Counterparts to Discuss Means of Bringing Sustainable Peace

Jordan 24.09.2020 Foreign ministers of Jordan, Egypt, France, and Germany along with the EU Special Representative for the Middle East Peace Process, discussed resuming negotiations, highlighting the two-state solution to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. Participants praised the Israel–United Arab Emirates normalization agreement, while Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan- Ayman Safadi expressed his concern over the stalled Israeli-Palestinian talks. During the press conference, there was a consensus among Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs- Sameh Shoukry, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian, and the German Foreign Minister- Maas, who participated through a video call, on the two-state solution, claiming that it would bring sustainable peace to the region.  Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs- Sameh Shoukry pointed out that Israel–United Arab Emirates normalization agreement will pave the way for a sustainable peace, while the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Yves Le Drian said that it made regional stability one step closer.
