Yemen – UN envoy to Yemen hopes to rekindle peace to reduce daily casualties
Sana’a – Yemen 6/6/2018
The UN envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, stated that he had held meetings with leaders of the General People’s Congress and Houthi leaders on the vision for peace to be presented to the UN Security Council this month, and noted the encouraging reactions he received during his visit through meetings. He also expressed the hope that the peace process will be pushed forward, because every day passes without peace causes more casualties and he pointed to the existence of a number of important issues that should be discussed, such as those related to the humanitarian aspect and the continued closure of Sana’a airport against commercial flights. This came during a press conference held prior to his departure from Sanaa airport on Tuesday after a visit to Yemen lasting several days.
