Yemen – Awwam Temple, a famous historical landmark in Yemen

The Temple of Awwam or “Mahram Bilqis” is a Sabaean temple representing the “God of the Moon”. It is one of the most famous temples in Yemen, located in the south of Ma’rib. It represents the historical civilization of the city that was the capital of the historical Kingdom of Saba. The wars that have been taking place in Yemen for years to this day pose a real threat to all temples and archaeological sites in the country, where most of the historical monuments suffer from neglect as well as the destruction.
