Jordan – Journalists protest in front of their union to protest against arresting their colleagues

A group of Jordanian journalists held a sit-in in front of the headquarters of their union in the Jordanian capital of Amman after they were not allowed to hold it in front of the prime minister’s office in protest against arresting the journalists Omar Maharama and Shadi al-Zinati by the head of the Public Prosecutions Department in Amman and against putting restrictions on press freedoms. Participants held banners saying “The free pens will not be silenced” and “Hani al-Mulqi’s government must be dropped.”
