Baghdad new wall, between security necessity to combat terrorism and sectarian division
The military engineeeing or Iraqi army started building Baghdad security wall to surround the city from its four sides to prevent entrance of terrorists leaving politicians condemning the building of the wall.
“Baghdad operations” military engineering received a command from General Commander to build a security wall around Baghdad from beginning of February starting with digging a trench with width of three meters and depth of up to two meters, and is considered a security step to encircle the capital from 4 aspects and backed up with surrvielence towers with cameras.
There are also security checkpoints backed up with explosive detectors to control the situation in Baghdad and reopen roads as an attempt control entrance of terrorist to the city.
The Iraqi opinions varied regarding the Fence and some of them consider it a way to divide Iraq and others consider it a way to protect the city from terrorism.
