Storyline:
The Sharjah Innovation Park, hosted the world’s first solar electric vehicle that can travel long distances made by Dutch startup Lightyear
The park is the first test and sales center for the innovative Dutch company.
According to the parent company, “the vehicle will be able to travel 388 miles (640 km) without the need for recharging. It will have an additional range of up to 44 miles (72 km) per day via the solar panels.”
Lightyear confirmed that the car will initially cost 250,000 euros, or $262,000, adding: “Every hour under the sun will add up to 6 miles (10 km) of charging to the battery, and provide additional power for long trips, meaning the driver will spend less time in charging stops, or will not at all.”
“In hot countries, if your daily commute is less than 22 miles, you will not need to charge the car for up to 7 months, and in more cloudy climates, such as the Netherlands, you will need to charge the car after two months,” the company added.
