Jordan and Iraqi signed a cooperation agreement, today Thursday, in the field of natural resources and mining, relating to laws and policies that govern the exploitation of mineral resources in the two countries to facilitate investments in this sector
Under the agreement, signed by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Al Kharabsheh and Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals Manhal Aziz Al Khabbaz, the two countries would exchange expertise in this field.
The agreement also provides for establishing a database of all raw materials ready for investment in both countries, in addition to cooperating in the field of applying modern techniques related to the exploration of mineral and non-mineral materials.
Soundbite (Saleh Al-Kharabsheh – Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources):
“This protocol is important since we work on using natural resources and mining. The Ministry is working on several projects and we hope to implement some of these new proposals. I mentioned earlier, that it is important to make use of natural resources and mining these days in light of the transition to clean energy that is going on in the world.”
Soundbite (Manhal Khabbaz – Iraqi Minister of Industry and Minerals, Iraq):
“The two countries are interested in such cooperation. Mineral wealth and mining are among the priorities of the two governments. We work to take advantage of all possibilities, in the field of mining or mineral wealth and use them as alternatives to energy. Today the most important of these materials is the silica, and its role in the manufacture of solar energy cells, as alternative energy and so on.”
