Storyline:
Residents of Al-Dhabab area, west of the Yemeni city of Taiz, staged a sit-in to protest the Houthi shelling of the area. The sit-in followed the last incident of killing a child and fatally wounding his parents in Al-Saila village, despite the announcement of a truce by the United Nations. Participants condemned the deadly incident and expressed dismay at Houthis’ siege of the city, calling on the international community to stop the killing of civilians in Taiz. In a statement, protesters also called on the Security Council and the international envoy to stand firm against Houthis’ violations and daily crimes.

- Soundbite (Maher Absi – activist):
“The (two-month) truce is about to conclude without even being adhered to in Taiz so far. Houthi militias continued sniping and bombing. Every day or two there is a new crime. We demand the militia lift its siege on the city to live in peace.”
