The Lebanese Minister of Interior, Bassam Mawlawi, on Wednesday said authorities thwarted attempts of a militant network aiming to carry out three attacks in civil communities. The network recruited Palestinian nationals’ young men in Lebanon to carry out suicide attacks with explosive belts. The would-be attacks included the use of rocket-propelled grenades that could lead to many causalities. A video on the initial plans of the militant attacks that began in 2021 was shown at the conference, in addition to revealing the names of the Palestinian attackers, who are from the Ain al-Hilweh camp. At
the beginning of this year, Lebanon has dismantled 17 spy networks, the country’s largest security operation in 13 years.
