  • (SOUNDBITE) Muawiyah Al-Wahidi -Barber:

“A car was bombed in front of my shop during the last war. My work as a barber requires me to stand on my feet, still, I resumed my work after my injury. I work while sitting in a wheelchair. I have to work because I do not have any source of income. I live in a difficult economic situation, and it requires me to struggle in life. I struggle a lot to get out of the house because I live on the fourth floor. It is very hard to go down the stairs.”

  • (SOUNDBITE) Muawiyah Al-Wahidi -Barber:

“I come to the shop 3 days a week. Some clients call me to come to work and also to support me to keep living.”

  • (SOUNDBITE) Mohamed Al-Daya – Customers:

“I have been a customer of Muawiyah for more than 20 years. His injury affected him psychologically. It is our duty as neighbors to encourage him to return to the shop and carry out his usual work despite facing some difficulties.”
