Lebanon- Protestors Try to Storm the Lebanese Central Bank

A crowd of protestors organized a sit-in near the Lebanese central bank to rally against its fiscal policies and the national currency’s unprecedented devaluation. This was accompanied by attempts to storm the central bank by climbing the fences. Security forces clashed with protestors, who also set fire on the entrance. The Mount Lebanon public prosecutor Judge Ghada Aoun issued a travel ban against Central Bank Governor Riad Salameh. The travel ban is pursuant to a lawsuit filed by an activist group under the name” people want to reform the government” against Salameh over alleged financial misconduct. The Lebanese pound has hit the lowest record of 33 thousand pounds against the dollar
