For two years in a row, Christmas Eve celebrations have been restricted as fears of the highly- contagious Omicron variant grew more. Thousands of Americans were dismayed at the news of canceling their domestic flights amid a surging number of omicron cases. In this respect, few streets in Washington were lit up and decorated with almost empty shops in light of the imposed restrictions.
