On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities conducted a dialogue session, adopted by the Supreme Consultative Body of the Afro-Asian Union in Iraq with the presence of officials in the Ministry of Interior, researchers, feminist activists and those interested. The session comes to discuss the growing number of suicide cases among women and their implications on the family and society, The participants pointed out that the economic conditions and psychological stress, especially in the southern regions are to blame for the rise in suicide and escape cases. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior highlighted additional reasons such as family breakdown and living within a virtual life which is far from reality. However, figures show a decrease in suicide and violence rates compared to the past due to massive awareness campaigns held for women.
