Yemen – Many Makes Their Living through Motorcycles in Hajjah Governorate

During the past years, Hajjah Governorate have witnessed an increase in the number of motorcycles in the streets, roads and markets, for many unemployed people, motorcycles are the only haven to earn their daily sustenance, amid high prices and, in order to search for livelihood and improve their standard of living. Poor and humble people creates a high demand on motorcycles since they use it as a low cost transportation method, the prices of motorcycles in a country suffering from the worst humanitarian crisis and economic deterioration, in addition to the devaluation of the local currency, range between 1300 – 1500 US dollars. “The poor economic and living conditions experienced by the population, forced many to use the motorcycle as a means of transportation, in addition to working on it to earn their livelihood.” says Ali Muhammad, a displaced person in Hajjah governorate
