Iraq – The colonel in the Iraqi intelligence assassinated by unknown gunmen
Colonel Nibras, the assistant director of monitoring in the Iraqi intelligence service was assassinated, on Monday, in the municipalities’ area, eastern Baghdad, by unknown armed elements. The assassination incident occurred after he was pursued by two armed groups, and clashes took place along with an exchange of fire which killed him and the gunmen escaped to an unknown location. The murder took place at a time when dozens of security checkpoints were in place, raising concerns raised about the ability of these armed groups to conduct their operations without being chased and arrested.
