Ramadan increases their hardship and hunger, yet they believe in the blessings of this month. This is what forty displaced Syrian families from Maarat al-Numan say, who sought shelter in destroyed and abandoned school buildings, despite their fragile condition and lack of the basic necessities of a decent life, while the majority of these families are forced to sell their furniture to feed their children. According to a United Nations study, more than 80% of Syrians live below the poverty line, indicating that the difficult times in Syria are not over yet.
