Iraq: 87% of Iraqi women Aren’t in Favor of working

According to a report issued by the Ministry of Planning, 87% of Iraqi women aren’t in favor of working in the private sector, adding that only a slight segment of women is employed in comparison to men, only 8%. It is also worth mentioning that women prefer working in the public sector. About 80% of those employed women work in the educational and health ministries. This widespread unwillingness of women to work is mainly attributed to the gender pay gap along with society’s beliefs and stereotypes that don’t encourage women employees
