All though Tattooing is an ancient art that was born thousands years ago, it is not widely accepted in the Iraqi community due to tribal traditions and beliefs, not to mention that it is among the religious taboos. However, with advanced mechanisms in getting tattoos, a wild demand has been growing with an aim to keep in line with fashion. Tattooing has become rampant due to the Iraqi community’s openness especially in light of the availability of the internet, various TV channels, traveling, and Iraqi youths’ attempt to be like their peers in other countries, especially that before 2003 these freedoms were restricted. It is worth mentioning that tattooing was known in Iraq as ” Al Dakkah” which is a treatment for some mental illnesses to fend evilness and envy
