Tunisia- Ancient Gates of Tunis Reflect a Rich History and Great Civilizations
The ancient gates of the Medina of Tunis (medina quarter of Tunis) reflect a rich history of the country. Despite the fact that a lot of these gates no longer exist, they are held in high esteem among Tunisians. These gates distinguish many cities in Tunisia. Each of these distinctive gates narrates a special era. However, these anecdotes are unknown to many. Historians illustrated that the names of these gates were derived from the area they lead to; Bab el Bhar ( the gate of the sea) overlooks the sea. Bab El Khadra (the green gate) was also given its name because it leads to the green gardens. These gates aren’t mere stones, but artifacts that reflect a rich history and heritage that were constructed by various civilizations
