Cambodia – A two-week closure of schools and entertainment centers
Phnom Phen – Cambodia 10/11/2020
On Sunday, the Cambodian government has ordered to close of all schools, entertainment centers, and cinemas in Phnom Penh and Kandal province due to a recent outbreak of COVID 19.
This decision came after 900 people came in contact with the COVID-19 positive Hungarian delegation that came to visit Cambodia last week. The Hungarian delegation tested positive in COVID-19 after they left Cambodia and arrived in Thailand. The Cambodian bodyguard to the Hungarian delegation has also tested positive after 4 days in quarantine. Prime Minister Hun Sen and his wife are also isolating themselves for 14 days and have canceled all their meetings.
Business owners and workers are frustrated due to the lack of income. Parents are worried about their children’s education while university students consider online education is insufficient.
