Iraq – Renewed protests in Baghdad

Protests resumed today in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad and a number of provinces, after activists on social media for days called for a million-man demonstrations and returning to the sit-in squares again, to confirm the rejection of political quotas on the eve of a parliamentary session expected to be held in order to grant confidence to the government of Mohammed Tawfiq Allawi, scheduled for Wednesday, the demonstrators demanded the leadership of Baghdad operations to intervene and secure the perimeter of the square and protect the demonstrators and prevent the use of live bullets by security forces against them, these clashes between security forces and protesters continue to be repeated almost daily but are limited in protest squares in different cities.
