In the conclusion of the 1st Spring Festival in Tunisia, the management honored Iraqi cinema through presenting three films respectively, it opened with showing the film “Letter to the King” for the Iraqi director residing in Norway, Hisham Zaman.
The film raises the issue of war in Iraq in the last two decades and the issue of borders and refugees. The plot of the film “Letter to the King,” follows a group of refugees on a bus heading to Oslo to visit a country which promised them new beginnings, but for a number of characters of the film, the trip is to correct the past and the search for a new future far away from the vicious war.
Mr. Kawa Al-Haidari of Iraqi origin said that this honoring gesture should be valued especially as it gave new spirit to the Iraqi cinema outside of Iraq in light of his country deteriorating security conditions.
