Somalia – EU gifts Mogadishu municipality new firefighting vehicles

EU Chargé d’Affaires to Somalia Fulgencio Garrido Ruiz, handed over a number of new fire fighting vehicles as a present from the European Union to the Somali capital Mogadishu. This gift is aimed at increasing the firefighters’ efficiency in the capital. For his part, the Mayor of Mogadishu, Abdul Rahman Omar Othman said that the Municipality is grateful for the support of the EU, adding that these vehicles will help strengthen the capacity of the local authorities to coordinate and respond to emergencies in the capital Mogadishu, thus saving lives and minimizing losses.
