Hussein Mualem Mahmoud, the director of Hiraal Institute for Security Studies and former deputy director of the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), stated that Al-Shabaab movement has many undiscovered weapon storages that help them carry out their assaults and attacks, adding that there is a connection between the movement’s activity and the operations carried out by the Somali Government to detect their weapon storages, which therefore stops them from carrying out their attacks. It is worth mentioning that the Somali security services had launched a security campaign a few days ago and found al-Shabaab Movement’s biggest underground storage in Elsha, near Mogadishu, which contained their weapons and explosives. This was a few weeks after Al-Shabaab Movement had carried out multiple attacks targeting government buildings and main roads in the Somali capital Mogadishu, killing dozens of people, including a deputy minister in the Somali government as well as Somali soldiers.
