Baghdad – Syria 06/04/2019
Iraqi communists and their supporters celebrated the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Iraqi Communist Party in Semiramis Cinema in Baghdad and held signs of the oldest political party active in Iraq, demanding services and job opportunities for Iraqis. The communist party is considered to be one of the pillars of political and missionary work, and was written about in some journals describing it truthfully and some negatively. In this regard, Iraqi Communist Party secretary Raed Fahmi confirmed the continuation of party members to celebrate this occasion since the founding under any circumstances, even in prison as it is an occasion to assure committing to the goals, order and work that the party was founded for. In addition to that, it is to pay respects to those who gave their lives to the cause of the party and people. Some party members expressed distress over officials ignoring the party plans aiming to fight corruption and quotas, viewing the disregard of the party’s perspective one of the reasons to the regress of Iraq.
