Officials and analysts believe that the new government of Mohammed Ashtayeh, which was assigned by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas following Rami al-Hamdallah’s resignation last January, will soon be facing major challenges relating to the political issues resulting from the lack of prospect for the peace process, and the US pressure against the Palestinians, as well as the internal affairs related to the division and the incapability to bring together all the Palestinian factions into the structure of a national unity government. They also stressed the need to put an end to the division and come to an agreement on a government in which all the segments of the Palestinian people and their political factions can unite to hold elections in 6 months, as stated in reconciliation agreement, in order to save the deal of the century from complete failure.
