Iraq – Iraqi Museum’s history, civilization and looting stories
The National Museum of Iraq holds valuable treasures of the Mesopotamia civilization, although it illegally lost so many of its monuments since 2003. In the course of time, some of these stolen pieces began to be sold in international auctions, however, Iraq managed to stop these operations and was able to return the pieces and antiques to the museum, as reported by the head of the museum, Ahmed Kamel. The archeologist Hussein Fawzi believes that the looting and thefts experienced by the museum are nothing but a scheme to rob Iraq its history, civilization and its ancient culture.
