The Syrian town of Darkush in the countryside of Idlib, northern Syria has become similar to Italy’s Venice, following heavy rains for two consecutive weeks that raised the water level in the Orontes River to reach eight meters high, leading it to burst its banks and flood most of the town’s alleys and agricultural lands, forcing farmers to use boats as a main way of getting around along the city’s streets and houses for several hours to help the people get their basic needs.
