A meeting was held in Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, to discuss the government’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, which is overseen by the Country’s president. The meeting was attended by a number of officials of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, as well as a number of legal advisors and experts to assess the campaign and review its accomplishments and techniques in combating drug smuggling and eliminating local and international drug gangs. The participants stressed the need to call on the Higher Education Committee to raise awareness about drug use among youth in schools and universities by educating them about the risks and dangers of drug addiction. They also discussed the increasing number of arrests and murders in drug trafficking operations, and they stressed the need to develop a strategy to rehabilitate those who surrendered voluntarily. The head of Media Affairs at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency “PDEA” said that the Agency’s personnel are partnering up with all security authorities to inspect the ships at the ports and borders, pointing out to the dangerous role played by the Chinese gangs in smuggling drugs into the Philippines across the vast borders, where they manufacture them at the country’s laboratories.
