Iraq – 1.5 million displaced and refugees in Kurdistan need aid
City Center – Erbil – Kurdistan Region – Iraq 04/01/2019
The Barzani Charity Foundation, which is overseeing Kurdistan’s camps, publicized its annual report for 2018. As stated in the report, about 1.5 million displaced people and refugees are still living in camps and within the region’s cities, even though the war in Iraq was declared over and all the areas were liberated from ISIS. The Joint Coordination Center proclaimed that displaced people are going back again to the camps after having returned to their areas following the liberation operations, due to the instability and lack of services in those areas. The Barzani Charity Foundation carried out more than 8,000 humanitarian activities in Iraq and Kurdistan during the year 2018, and it also appealed to donor countries, international organizations and the UN to continue to offer support to displaced people and refugees.
