Somalia – Cattle imported from the Netherlands to cover milk shortages
Mogadishu Suburbs – Somalia 22/12/2018
A few Somali businessmen have started importing high-yielding dairy cows from the Netherlands to invest in the country, as a result of the serious milk scarcity, as Somalia’s cattle are incapable of producing adequate amounts of milk to cover the citizens’ needs, where cattle farms were set up to produce enough milk for the residents of Mogadishu. Som is one of these farms, which houses dozens of cows that produce around 600 liters of high quality milk, making it possible to provide hotels, customers and shops with fresh milk on a daily basis.
